Cinnabon Celebrates 20 Years of WOWing Guests with $2.00 Classic Rolls
--
Maker of worlds most famous cinnamon rolls to run promotion Sunday, December 4th
to commemorate emerald anniversary
November 29, 2005 (Atlanta)
Two decades ago, Seattle-based Restaurants Unlimited hired food maven Jerilyn Brusseau to create the worlds greatest cinnamon roll. Three months and approximately 100 kitchen experiments later, they perfected the Cinnabon recipe. Fast forward 20 years, and the Cinnabon
brand has grown into a worldwide phenomenon with
unparalleled crave appeal at more than 600 bakeries in 41
states, 30 foreign countries, Washington D.C., and Puerto
Rico (see lists below for product and location details).
To commemorate its accomplishments and set the stage for future successes, Cinnabon will hold a 20th anniversary celebration on Sunday, December 4th at all participating bakeries by offering its signature Classic Roll for $2.00 each. The company opened its first bakery on December 5, 1985 near Seattle at Sea Tac Mall (now called The Commons at Federal Way) as guests eagerly waited to indulge themselves in the latest food trend the cinnamon roll. Topped with rich cream cheese frosting and infused with Makara Cinnamon, the companys signature cinnamon, and brown sugar filling, the rolls lured in mall shoppers and created a buzz thats still going strong 20 years later.
In addition, the original mall bakery will celebrate the milestone with Ms.CinnaMom Brusseau to serve guests with a Classic Roll cut from a Cinnabon birthday cake designed by the indulgence creator herself. President and CEO Steve Romaniello and franchise partner CinnaWorkS president James Walker will then give a brief history and hand out a version of the delicious secret recipe. Other mall events include a childrens frosting contest and special 1985 promotions.
After 20 years, the company is still on a roll, but not just with its own efforts. For example, Cinnabon has opened numerous co-branded locations with sister companies Carvel Ice Cream (domestically) and certain markets of Seattles Best Coffee (internationally), with plans to launch many more of both varieties in the coming months. And the company has partnered with numerous well-known food brands to create a variety of licensed products, such as Pillsbury Grands! Cinnamon Rolls with Cinnabon Filling, Betty Crocker Cinnabon Apple Crisp Mix, Mrs. Smiths Cinnabon Frozen Desserts, Schwans Cinnabon Cheesecake, and Poore Brothers Inc. Cinnabon Cookies. Plenty of additional licensed products are on the horizon.
